Border Patrol agents seize more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana abandoned in Arizona desert


TUCSON, Ariz. — Border Patrol agents say they've seized more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana that was abandoned in the southern Arizona desert.
Agents using surveillance technology saw suspected activity Thursday evening near Casa Grande and found 13 bundles of marijuana weighing a combined 707 pounds hidden in the brush.
Late Thursday night, agents discovered 22 bundles of marijuana weighing a combined 512 pounds abandoned in a wash near Topawa.
Authorities say the estimated value of the more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana was about $976,000.
The pot was taken to the Casa Grande station for destruction.
