1 Ton of Marijuana Seized in Southern Ariz. Desert

Vehicle had been reported stolen

LUKEVILLE, Ariz. (AP) — Border Patrol agents assigned to the Ajo Station say they've seized more than one ton of marijuana in the southern Arizona desert.
Agents were patrolling the border northeast of the Lukeville Port on Friday morning when they discovered an abandoned vehicle in the desert.
They say 92 bundles of marijuana were found inside the vehicle. A subsequent records check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Phoenix.
Authorities say the marijuana had an estimated value of more than $1 million. It's been transported to the Ajo Station for processing.
They say the abandoned vehicle was turned over to the Tohono O'odham Police Department.
