Felony Sex Offender Caught by US Border Patrol

CALEXICO, Calif. – Last night, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station arrested an illegal alien with criminal history for felony sex charges.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m., when Border Patrol agents working approximately 15 miles east of Calexico apprehended a group of six attempting to enter the U.S. illegally from Mexico.  All six illegal aliens were transported to the Calexico Border Patrol station where agents discovered that one of the group members is a convicted sex offender who had previously been deported from the U.S.  He was identified as 52-year-old Alfonso Rodriguez-Diaz, a citizen of Mexico with a felony conviction out of Pomona Calif., for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.

Diaz is currently being held by the U.S. Border Patrol pending prosecution for federal immigration charges.
